Happy Halloween
Halloween in Northern Virginia
“Come on back and we’ll see if you remember the simplest thing of all – how it is to be children, secure in belief and thus afraid of the dark.” ― Stephen King, IT
As autumn kicks in, one of the holidays that come to mind especially with kids is Halloween. We start to think about what costume to wear, trick or treating and the events that make this particular holiday fun and unforgettable.
In Virginia, there are different events that you can attend, to really get into the spirit of this holiday. From Mini Golf to Haunted Houses to shows and parties. Often these events start as early as September. However, just because it’s Halloween doesn’t mean that all these things need to be scary or gruesome. Sometimes what people want is to just dress up.
Northern Virginia is not one to be late in celebrating this occasion. There are Scary and Fun affairs like the Madhaunter’s Madhouse which opened their doors last October 14 and will run until the end of the month. Madhaunter’s Madhouse is an indoor and outdoor maze of terror that will have you jumping out of your skin at every turn, complete with heart pounding scares and custom made special effects.
There’s also the Leesburg Haunting Tours, where costumed storytellers will relate the history and the ghostly tales of each site. Another one is the Clifton Haunted Trail, a trail of terror waits in Clifton’s Buckley Park, so watch out for monsters and stick to the trail.
Nevertheless, if you are not one to enjoy hair-raising events, then there are a few more that you can choose from that will surely be enjoyed by the whole family. There’s the 90’s Costume Party in the Taproom, Pumpkins by the Campfire, Burke Lake Halloween Ghost Train, Bier-O-Ween to name a few.
Of course Halloween will never be completed without the Trick or Treating around the neighbourhood for the kids.
Moreover, like any other Holiday make the most out of it with family and friends in one of the best neighbourhoods.
